Over 100 years ago, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was making Straight Rye whiskey. During recent years, the style has gained popularity, though Buffalo Trace Distillery have been long distilling straight rye.

Unlike the Sazerac Rye, this whiskey contains no corn - just rye and malted barley. Dried fruit, black pepper and a little dill are present on the nose. Aged for a minimum of 4 years, the undertone of oaky sweetness is apparent, but not overwhelmingly so; the subtle aromatic nose remains and is bright and light. Colonel E. H.
